Cybernetic Serendipity
Gordon Pask (Cybernetic Holy Man), «The Colloquy of Mobiles», 1968
A reactive, educable, computer-based system composed of five mobiles. By way of light and sound, the rotating elements suspended from the ceiling communicated with each other, independent of external influences.
Read about his "Maverick Machines" and be astounded!
Pask defined aesthetically potent environments as those environments designed to stimulate pleasurable interactions. Any work of art could be an aesthetically potent environment. It need not involve mechanical or computer-aided interactivity.
