Alma was a black woman artist who's work is being requisitioned by the Obamas for display at the White House. Modern art is still misunderstood and underappreciated. Artists copy from others, are influenced by those from the past and grow and develop a style of their own. I like her cut-out approach to painting and hopefully will be influenced by it and all her predecessors.
