Role Magazine July 09 - Aho Museum Exhibit

The Aho Museum is exhibiting a collection of Primagery from work I created this year, with the majority of the work - six series, in fact - created in December 2008. This work is on permanent display on the second floor. I was pleased to just discover this recent article about it.
I am proud to have found a means to produce work in Second Life that is authentic and true to its origins. I am equally proud to hear the praise that this effort has produced. I haven't done a primagery series for about a month. I have to get back to my roots. I hope you enjoy the journey with me.

Burning Life Opens the Gates Today

Get ready to RUMBLE! Get a gift and LM to some wonderful installations at the Art Exhibit tent. See the artsy Porta Potties, even one by me. http://burninglife.secondlife.com/whatisBL
Drop by and visit my art parcel, called the Cambrian Explosion. Use the zero gravity sky balls or fly inside yourself. Try walking to the water and see what happens. Inside you will experience some music and visuals that capture my abstract idea of 30 million years of evolution from plankton to vertibrates such as the now extinct trilobites, micromitra, and hurdia victorias. Based on my block prims from the Rebuild series and inspired by the work of the now deceased Vanfarel Kupfer and my admiration of the use of subtle gauze textures by Glyph Graves, I sought to create an exciting and beautiful literal explosion of colors and shapes that springs from a pond in a fossil bed.

White Velvet Gallery - PiRats through November 1 2009

White Velvet Gallery - PiRats through November 1, 2009 will be showing a selection of Primagery including my most recent experiments with a sculpture called "Rebuild" using a texture I created over a year ago. Here are two examples of the range of images that I was able to extract from the sculpture under different lighting and views.
The show opens today at 1 pm. It features 4 other artists of great interest.
Remember: All proceeds go to the artist directly.

Liz Larner

"2001" one by Liz Larner may be on permanent display at UCSF Mission Bay in the Genetics, Development and Behavioral Sciences building but in 2007 it was in NYC Central Park. She takes the sphere and the cube and puts it together in a twelve feet high and twelve foot deep stainless steel, and fiberglass piece painted in green and purple iridescent urethane. Its contour and color change with the viewer's angle and the overall light conditions so that it seems to be both at rest and undergoing metamorphosis. Made using a computer animation program and constructed of industrial materials, it really is an eye-catcher. http://www.flickr.com/search/?s=int&w=all&q=liz+larner&m=text http://www.bombsite.com/issues/96/articles/2822

George Hart - Geometric Sculptures

This piece is called "Tumbleweed" and I might try to do something like it in SL but with alphas. On the otherhand..I might even try the metal look. I need to put a little tumbleweed on the desert plot in Burning Life. Most all geometric sculpture is symmetrical and precise--something that I find nice to look at but overwhelmingly restrictive to my way of working. George W. Hart makes some beautiful sculptures. There are actually many out there just like him but I stumbled across his work when I googled tumbleweed. Vladimir Bulatov and Bathsheba Grossman have similar backgrounds and approaches.

In Second Life Bathsheba Grossman is know as Wizard Gynoid. Then there is always Seifert Surface (mathemetician Henry Segerman in RL)...and probably others that use mathematics and scientific principles on purpose to create art in Second Life.

Forever Series Scripted Sculpture

A new series of scripted sculptures called "Forever" where I use a twisted prim and alpha textures intertwined, rotating and evolving in no certain pattern but always returning to the original shape. These sculptures may be resized by the click of a menu. The blue one is "Forever Blue" and the other one is color-changing..."Forever Ribbons". These are currently on display with many other fine sculptures at Tani Thor's outdoor sculpture gallery for 20 days.
