I'm diggin these shots from the Hubble telescope. Putting them here for reference.

Kinetic Light Sculptures - Cybernetic Art

Awesome and unbelievable variety of scale and play of shape and textures is displayed in the works of this acclaimed scientific light sculptor. His work looks and feels like what I work with in Second Life. Below is his new work coming to Chicago in 2010. He discovered his niche quite by accident, eventually obtaining an art degree. He continues to explore how particles are changed through light media. He also experiemented with abstract painting on glass. Light and vibrations of the wave form led him to develop a form of light. He did some stage lighting designs using his experiments. His lecture is very interesting ...the vibrating string becoming the impetus to his eventual full time involvement in light sculpture from very small to very large.
His work is interactive sometimes with responding wave forms. He references chaos and harmony as providing surprising results. Second Life offers to me the same sense of discovery. In fact one of the pictures of his installations includes a spontaneous response by one of the spectators who started to dance underneath his work--not unlike a SL experience. In order to make the large abstract works he has to use long plastic strips to create a skeleton on which to apply the chromoscopic light. He is definitely a Physicist working with abstract cosmology. Way over my head and beyond! I'm just a lowly painter playing in Second Life.....with no understanding of the underlying principles of Einsteins applied theories or even how my computer works.

RL Kinetic Sculpture

Check out the videos of Reuben Margolin's kinetic sculptures on his web page. All of the adjectives I like to ascribe to my sculptures in SL, he succeds in RL - delicate, hypnotic, elegant...I'm humble before his feet. *bows* Absolutely awe-inspiring!
I discovered him on Youtube...Make Television. He hand draws everything..but then, he's one of those mathematician types. Impressive!

Autism Auction at Angel Dorei

Ataraxis (the name of this sculpture) means "emotional calming" which I feel exemplifies the hope of many people who suffer from the often times hyper activity of Autism. This one-of-a-kind sculpture will be auctioned off in the Autism fundraising event that starts April 4 at Angel Dorei curated by Mariposa Upshaw. This sculpture has a resize script so can make it smaller or larger. It also has a rotation on or off switch.

Exhibits for April

This is the first month since my first solo exhibit in December that I don't have a show outside of my own gallery. There are current exhibits at Lars Gallery that will close this month and my display on the third floor of the Aho Museum will be permanent (Whoo-Hoo!) ...but...outside of that, I have a little break to work on new things for May and beyond. My shows at Gulara and Tricia Aferdita's gallery closed at the end of March.
The Mask exhibit was tons of fun. I submitted a transforming mask that opens when you click it. I'm anxious to return and get another look when it isn't so laggy. The show opened on Sunday, March 29, 2009. Lots of great work by a variety of artists.
The Noobs on Parade exhibit was also a riot. It was fun to work on something outside of my comfort zone and it was an experiment with interactive sculpture. See photo. Most of the work was comical. Mine, not so much.
Angel Dorei is hosting an Autism auction that I will be participating in this month. I created a sculpture that I will donate to the cause. I'm experimenting with particle scripts and hope to learn a little along the way. Primagery is still my main focus and I have collected 5 new series for a May show at anandra and am working on 3 more. I have another solo exhibit in May at Autopilotpatty's gallery and will showcase my work to a new audience.
I'm also doing some collaborative work that I will write about a little more about later. All in all, I'm looking forward to the month of April.
